Our family has grown raspberries for over twenty years. Since Lakeview Berry Farm has opened to the public, thousands have visited our farm to pick or buy fresh, delicious raspberries, take in the beautiful lake view and enjoy the refreshing Wisconsin countryside. We grow summer producing raspberries and fall producing raspberries.
We are a family run farm so we know how important it is to make outings fun for the whole family, especially for the kids. We encourage everyone to bring their children along and get them in the patches picking and tasting the fresh berries. Every year we have been trying to add something to our farm to make it better for our berry pickers. The first year we were open we had red raspberries to offer. Then we expanded to try purple and black raspberries. The black raspberries especially grow absolutely wonderful on our farm and have been a huge success with our berry pickers. Since we planted them, we have added new plants every year to increase our supply of them. Our purple raspberries also grow very well. Once people try using them in their jam recipes they love them. We planted blueberries and while they do not grow very fast here, the berries we do get from our plants are very delicious. We added rhubarb, currants and gooseberries all in the same year. They all grow so beautifully on our farm. They are not as common as raspberries, but those who want them are especially excited to find them on our farm. Next, we finally moved into strawberries. The first year we planted strawberries, we planted June bearing strawberries and ever-bearing strawberries. The ever-bearing strawberries were wonderful the first year, but the flavor wasn't as spectacular the second year. However, our June strawberries were beyond spectacular. Their flavor just exploded in your mouth and kept you wanting more and more. Last year, we finally planted Blackberries. We will see this year how they turn out. We had a few berries from the new plants last fall. They were big, juicy and bursting with flavor. In addition to the blackberries we also planted gold raspberries. We had so many more ripe gold raspberries last fall than we expected so we cannot wait to see how many we have this year.We also grow blueberries, gooseberries, currants and rhubarb on a smaller scale. |
