Our family has grown raspberries for over twenty years. Since Lakeview Berry Farm has opened to the public, thousands have visited our farm to pick or buy fresh, delicious raspberries, take in the beautiful lake view and enjoy the refreshing Wisconsin countryside. We grow summer producing raspberries and fall producing raspberries. This enables us to offer fresh raspberries starting early July into October or until there is a hard frost which ends berry picking for the season. We grow red, black, purple and gold raspberries. The red and gold raspberries are ever bearing. The black and purple raspberry are both summer bearing. We planted new fields of red raspberries last season. This year we are planting gold raspberries. We have had a few plants in our personal garden for a couple years and they are so delicious we thought we would see how everyone else likes them. Each type of berry is delicious and has its own unique flavor. We are often asked which is the best. That is a question answered simply by taste testing since the answer lies with each individual. This year we are opening in June for strawberry picking and are we excited. We grow two types of strawberries. The first is the strawberry we all wait anxiously to pick every year in June. Then we thought how great would it be to have fresh strawberries all summer long, even into the fall, just like our raspberries. So we are planting Day Neutral Strawberries also known as ever bearing strawberries. Fresh picked strawberries in June, July, August and September. What a treat that was last year and we are looking forward to them again this year. We also grow blueberries, gooseberries, currants and rhubarb on a smaller scale. |
